Short Story

One morning my dad, my sister, and I went to stay the weekend at our other house on Twistabout. We were there for four days. My dad is a short, fat man; he is very grouchy. It was so much fun, except for the crazy hot days, with no air conditioner.  It felt like an oven. It’s like we were a turkey roasting on Thanksgiving. At night it was kind of cool. I would sit on the porch and feel the cool breeze blow through my hair. My dad is a short, fat man; he is very grouchy.

The next day was the worst, but most fun day ever.  Dad and I had planned to burn the brush pile that day, but it was too windy. My sister wanted to go over the hill to our trailer and get the game Monopoly. She was walking in between these two pine trees when she wasn’t paying attention and walked right up on a black snake. Her eyes got as big as the moon.  Her mouth was open so wide it looked like it was bigger than the Grand Canyon. She rushed up the hill and lost my brown flip flops. So I had to go get them.

When I went to get the flip flops, the snake was wrapped up around my shoe.  I picked the flip flop up and set it by a pine tree. The snake ran up the pine tree. When my dad went down there about an hour later, he said the snake was still there.
