My First Deer

          I am going to tell you about the time I killed my first deer! It all started on a chilly December morning. A bunch of family members on my dad’s side of the family and I all went up to my uncle’s house in Braxton County, West Virginia. We were going to make drives. Well, I went on a stand with my brother. We didn’t see anything on the first drive. We all got together and decided to make another drive. My brother Josh and I still didn’t see any deer!

          Once again we all got together to make a drive. Josh and I decided to make our stand on a hill. A holler was down below us, and a hill across from us. We had been sitting for about 20 minutes when a deer came down the hill straight across from us. Josh said, “Brandon do you see it?” I said, “No,” and Josh shot it and dropped it dead! We all met up again and, my uncle Kenneth who owned the land said that deer had been coming in a field down the road at his neighbor’s house.

          My uncle Kenneth and I hopped on his four-wheeler and went to the field hoping to kill a deer. We sat for about 45 minutes, and didn’t see any deer. We decided to just call it a day, but about 15 minutes before we did my uncle’s neighbor threw out some deer corn just like he always had. We had walked down to my uncle’s neighbor’s house and had been standing around. Before I knew it a pack of deer had come into the field. I quickly got down against the bank and got the sights of my .243 on a big doe. I aimed and I shot! I dropped it dead in its tracks. I was so happy! Anyways this is my story, and I hope you liked it.
