                           We Finally Won

                                             By: Lydia S.

The Clay County Lady Mustangs volleyball game was scheduled for 6:00 p.m.  The girls and I were pumped up and ready to play.  We were all wearing our blue and white uniforms with white ribbons in our hair.  The game was about to start and we were up against the Spencer Yellow Jackets.  When their team came out onto the court we just knew we were going to lose.  All of the girls on their team were taller than us and looked strong.

The game started and we got the first couple of points.  The girls and I thought we were playing pretty well for a while, but then we lost the ball and the Yellow Jackets started to rack up the points.  We finally got the ball back and it was my turn to serve.  I served and got us six points.  After the seventh serve, we lost the ball again and the score was tied 25 to 25.  In order to win, we have to defeat the other team by two points.

The Yellow Jackets served the ball.  It barely hit the top of the net, spun over and flew towards the floor.  Stefani dove after the ball, bumped it back up into the air and Lexi spiked it.  This got us another point.  It was now Emily’s turn to serve; it was a nice smooth serve.  The ball headed straight towards their back left player, and she wacked the ball.  It went flying into the bleachers!  The girls and I, along with the crowd, screamed and cheered because we had finally defeated the Yellow Jackets.
